鈴木紅璃
I was born in 2004 and raised in Japan. I am currently a third-year student in the Department of Intermedia Art at Tokyo University of the Arts.
As a woman of mixed heritage, my practice often begins as a personal tool for navigating and surviving within Japanese society.
We humans are enveloped in a thick outer shell of physicality—one that cannot be easily transcended. My work involves using cameras, sculptural processes, and other media suited to the moment, in order to engage with others who might otherwise only hurt or conflict with one another.
By transforming these interactions into material and spatial installations, I hope that the tools I created for myself might, even by chance, become tools for someone else to survive as well.
While my work confronts deeply personal experiences, I aim for the act itself to offer a critical lens into broader social conditions.
